L.A. Cetto Petite Sirah 2010 - vintages

$11.95 LCBO, Vintages
Decanted for 1 hour, slightly less than room temperature
Consumed at home with husband

Wow! This wine was so smooth and had a really great big flavour. We enjoyed it with manchego cheese and our son's goldfish crackers. I will be getting this wine again and likely posting about it a little more in detail since it was a couple days ago when we drank it. It did give my husband a headache, but he's a bit more susceptible to tannins than I tend to be.

A user from the above mentioned website says:

"This astoundingly well-priced wine won a Gold Medal at the 2012 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. Deep ruby-purple colour with rich aromas of blueberry jam, boysenberry, earth and mocha. Big, plump and full-bodied wine with substantial tannins and a whack of ripe fruit and chocolaty notes. Source: Vintages Wine Catalogue."

Grao Vasco Dao 2010 - Portugal

$7.95 LCBO, Other Eurpoean wines/Portugal
Decanted for 2 hours, slightly less than room temperature
Consumed at home with husband

This wine is inoffensive, sweet, and a bit astringent (puckers the mouth a bit), cherry notes. I find it has the same beginning and end. Fairly light, fine for drinking alone or with foods. My first reaction was "watered down wine". It's OK.

Of course the more I drink it the more it grows on me - doesn't happen every time!

2010 Grao Vasco Dao
Winemaker's Notes:
Grão Vasco Dão Red is a medium intensity ruby coloured wine, characterised by the primary aromas of the grapes from which it is made, such as plum and black cherry, with some balsamic notes. On the palate it is a wine of great elegance and smoothness, with good fresh acidity, smooth and rounded tannins and a medium intensity palate aroma in which fruit prevails. The result is a remarkably balanced whole, with a clean finish of medium persistence.
